Geothermal District Heating and Cooling

Join this virtual event organised by IRENA and EGEC in the framework of the International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and under the Umbrella of the of the Global Geothermal Alliance.

The 23 September 2021 from 09:30 to 11:00 Brussels time

IRENA and the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) are co-organising a virtual event on “Geothermal District Heating and Cooling” which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 23 September 2021 from 09:30h – 11:00h CET (i.e. 11:30h – 13:00h Abu Dhabi Time, 15:30h – 17:00h Beijing Time). The event will take place in the framework of the International Conference on Smart Energy Systems hosted by Aalborg University.

The objective of the event is to promote the decarbonisation of the building sector through the deployment of geothermal energy for heating and cooling. Furthermore, it will promote the role of smart energy systems, including the new generation district heating and cooling networks in facilitating the increased share of renewables, including geothermal energy in the heating and cooling of buildings and the supply of domestic hot water. The event will showcase best practices from the Netherlands and China as well as highlight supportive tools and methodologies for scaling up the deployment of geothermal energy in the heating and cooling sector.
