EUSEW Sustainable Energy Days: Citizen Engagement – Accelerate the Clean Energy Transition

Accelerate the clean energy transition by joining this engaging webinar during the EUSEW Sustainable Energy Days, where experts from EU-funded projects and initiatives will showcase how citizen engagement can drive the decarbonisation of existing buildings.

The 05 June 2023 from 14:00 to 15:30 Brussels time

Join this engaging and informative webinar to learn about RePowerEU. This vital plan aims to tackle the fallout from the war in Ukraine, specifically the impact of soaring energy prices, by reducing energy demand in buildings. In the context of RePowerEU, realising a citizen-led or citizen’s community approach to renovation can break the mammoth challenge of retrofitting millions of buildings into more manageable initiatives, conducted at the community level. This webinar within the EUSEW Sustainable Energy Days brings together relevant initiatives and projects funded by the EC to discuss the current challenge on how to reduce the energy demand of the housing stock and the energy bills for its inhabitants considering the energy crisis we are in. The aim is to give insights on how to accelerate the decarbonisation of the existing building stock by renovating with citizen involvement.

During this workshop, they will be bringing together some of the most exciting initiatives and projects funded by the EC, to explore how we can accelerate the decarbonisation of existing building stock through renovation projects that involve citizens. They’ll be delving into how to make this process accessible and engaging, with the ultimate goal of creating Positive Energy Neighbourhoods and Positive Energy Districts.

Their lineup of speakers includes experts from two outstanding EU-funded projects, oPEN Lab and ATELIER, who will share their unique insights on this topic. Additionally, the webinar will feature two European Commission initiatives, the Citizen-led renovation Initiative and the Affordable Housing Initiative.

They strongly believe that involving citizens in renovation projects is key to success. By doing so, they can ensure that the initiatives align with local needs, while also creating a ripple effect that stimulates skills, businesses, and supply chains.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to learn from the experts and explore ways to accelerate the decarbonisation of existing building stock!
