Join us on 28 May 2026 for the opening session of the EU Covenant of Mayors’ Homegrown Energy Webinar Series on enabling and developing Energy Communities across Europe!
The EU Covenant of Mayors has launched its Homegrown Energy Engagement Action to help municipalities become active enablers of energy communities in their territories.
As part of this engagement action, four online webinars will be held between May and June 2026, each lasting approximately one hour. Organised in collaboration with partner projects and initiatives including the Citizen Energy Advisory Hub, the ISLET project and ManagEnergy, the series is designed to accompany local authorities through the full lifecycle of energy communities: understanding what they are and why they matter, how to engage citizens, how to address specific contexts such as islands, and how to set up and manage a community in practice.

Session 1 – Unlocking Support: Policies and Funding for Homegrown Energy
This opening session will introduce the Homegrown Energy Engagement Action and offer participants an overview of the European policy framework for energy communities, including the Citizen Energy Package presented by DG ENER. It will also highlight key support instruments available to local actors, from the LIFE CET funding calls presented by CINEA to the resources provided by the Citizen-led Renovation initiative.
