SOS OSS: European cooperation at the heart of Integrated Home Renovation Services

The Assises Européennes de la Transition Énergétique

Organized yearly since 1999, the Assises Européennes de la Transition Énergétique gather each session more than three thousand municipalities, agencies, scientists, non-profit organizations, and professionals invested in the field of energy transition for three days of interventions, interviews, debates, and other events.

For this 26th edition organized in Strasbourg, EU Peers will conduct a one-hour workshop on June 25, entitled SOS OSS: European cooperation at the heart of Integrated Home Renovation Services.

Workshop Abstract

Integrated Home Renovation Service Providers, also known as One-Stop Shops (OSS), are major actors in the European field of renovation. Their services play an essential role in promoting the massification of renovation projects in both the public and residential sectors. As a new European mandate begins, players are getting in motion to put into practice the new European legal obligations set out in the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. This workshop will explore the solutions offered by European cooperation, enabling local players to be supported on a large scale in implementing their Home Renovation Services.

Regional energy agencies are often the main drivers of the creation and replication of these innovative services. The European Energy Efficiency Directive explicitly mentions the role of energy agencies as facilitators of OSS. As independent organizations serving the public interest, the agencies support local authorities, economic actors, and citizens in their energy efficiency initiatives.

This workshop will highlight experiences and share regional instances of best practices from across Europe to hopefully inspire French players, and will offer participants a vade mecum on the creation and development of these services, in order to create a favorable environment and a community of European players who will contribute to the massification of renovations.

The key element at the heart of the development of this innovative service model for energy renovation: European cooperation made possible by a community of players from all backgrounds interacting within the framework of the EU PEERS project. In this workshop, the various tools and levers at the disposal of regional and local players will be presented for discussion with their European counterparts. In particular, the workshop will explore European projects such as EU PEERS, participation in a pan-European network such as FEDARENE, and the use of European mechanisms such as the new social climate fund, which plans to support the development of OSS.
