Northern Småland Energy Agency

Northern Småland Energy Agency (Energikontor Norra Småland) is a regional engine and driving force that makes its part of the world climate-smart and sustainable. Located in Northern Sweden, the agency’s mission is for the county as a whole to reach its climate goals.  

Above all, it supports the Region Jönköping County, which it is a part of, along with the municipalities and companies in its region, to transition to sustainable business practices and climate-smart everyday life. The purpose of its existence is to change and improve society from an energy and sustainability perspective. Energikontor Norra Småland is always impartial and has no profit interest.  

Activities  

The agency carries out its mission in several ways, broadly and narrowly, in different types of collaboration and development projects. The operations of Energikontor Norra Småland can be divided into the following three categories:  

• Circular and resource-efficient entrepreneurship; 

• Sustainable construction and renovation; 

• Sustainable travel and transport. 

Projects 

Examples of the agency’s projects include:  

• ATTRACT – Sustainable commuting and flexible working life. This project has brought the level of employees in the project who commute to work alone in a car to 40% from an initial rate of 61%.  

• Feasibility study V2X – Investigating opportunities and challenges for the establishment of V2X (Vehicle-to-everything) solutions in Jönköping County 

• FASTR – Implementing initiatives to speed up the transition to fossil-free transport. 

• RE:AGERA – Offering small and medium-sized companies in Jönköping County support and help in resource and energy efficiency, circular economy, and the transition to renewable and electrification.
