FEDARENE strives for excellence in sustainable energy and climate action at local and regional levels. The Roger Léron Award criteria reflect this high standard, rewarding individuals and projects that demonstrate vision, impact, and leadership.
– Criteria for Individual Nominations
(Longstanding Achievement Award, Youth Leadership Award, & Outstanding Achievement Award)
- Creativity & Vision: Recognises innovative solutions, bold strategies, or overcoming significant barriers and the candidate’s ability to anticipate future challenges and seize opportunities to make their city or region more sustainable.
- Impact: Assesses measurable outcomes like energy savings, economic growth, social benefits, and influence on their region and beyond.
- Leadership: Evaluates how well the candidate inspires, motivates, and engages others in the pursuit of sustainable energy and climate goals.
– Criteria for Project Nominations
(Innovative Action Award)
- Innovation: Celebrates new methods, technologies, or approaches that address climate and energy issues through breakthrough solutions and unique ideas.
- Impact: Looks at concrete outcomes, including energy savings, emissions reductions, and lasting social and economic benefits.
- Scalability & Replicability: Examines the project’s adaptability and potential for expansion, with a focus on its ability to inspire similar initiatives in other regions.
The individuals and projects nominated must have political, scientific or technical merit in the development of sustainable energy (renewable energy and/or energy efficiency) and/or climate action on a local and/or regional level in the EU.
The Roger Léron Award is primarily a European Award, but occasionally it could be awarded to non-Europeans based on their achievements within the European Economic Area (EEA) territory.
