About
Filip Dumitriu is Director at FEDARENE where he oversees the strategic and operational management of the federation, supervising the EU advocacy strategy and the development of services for members and the expansion of the association. Filip initially joined FEDARENE as a research and policy intern in 2015, focusing on innovative financing for energy efficiency projects. While applying for a doctoral position, he supported the sustainable development department of the Law University of Lille in identifying financial solutions for the energy renovation of its campus. He returned in 2016 to FEDARENE as a Project Officer, foregoing the doctoral path. Gradually taking on broader responsibilities across the organisation, including EU project development, implementation and management, capacity building for local and regional stakeholders, and EU communications.
With a decade of experience in sustainable energy and climate policy, Filip has implemented numerous EU-funded projects under Horizon, LIFE and Interreg, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy, innovative financing, capacity building and local climate action.
Holding a law degree with a specialisation in International and EU law, Filip has diversified his work in EU and international affairs. As a legal assistant for Romania’s representation at the Council of Europe, he contributed to the representation of Romania in various diplomacy missions and negotiations.
Filip has authored several policy publications focusing on topics ranging from energy efficiency policies to energy security and governance.
He is fluent in English, Romanian and French.
