What this means for European communities

By bringing together diverse actors, the Renovation Dialogue series aims to deepen collaboration across the board, from policymakers and project implementers to citizens and communities. This reflects the broader ambition of the renovation wave: to treat renovation not just as a technical upgrade but as a social transformation, one that improves living conditions, reduces energy poverty and strengthens community bonds. In doing so, it paves the way toward more sustainable and more equitable housing across Europe.

Moreover, the focus on inclusive renovation and local alliances highlights a shift in how renovation is conceived: away from isolated building-by-building interventions and towards integrated, community-based strategies where social cohesion, affordability and long-term sustainability go hand in hand.
