Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) is more and more used as a financial instrument for investments in energy efficiency measures and renewable energy use, especially for buildings. It fosters energy savings to be achieved year by year. Both public and private sectors use EPC. ENERGAP, the Energy Agency of Podravje, provides efficient support for municipalities, companies, ESCOs and SMEs as potential ESCOs by offering advice and useful tools (quick-checks, guides), running an enquiry service, holding regional events and assisting project development and implementation.
ENERGAP has become a Regional facilitation service and expert centre for Energy Performance Contracting (EPC). It is a result of 10 years of education and training activities, knowledge and experience exchanges in different projects with many national and EU organisations and institutions.
ENERGAP guides partners on a day-to-day basis through the whole process, including administrative, legal, procurement, financial and technical issues. Energap is aware that EPCs are long-term projects. Yet, initial and preparation phases are at the core of success. A special website was developed to help the public and private sectors to understand EPC procedures and to retrieve basic documents to start.
In 2017, as a part of the EU-funded project Streetlight-EPC, ENERGAP successfully supported two EPC projects in streetlighting in two Municipalities in Slovenia: the Municipality of Radlje ob Dravi and, the one of Poljčane. The results of the projects are around €350.000 of investment, 370 MWh of energy saved and 203 tons less CO2 emissions per year.
