The third edition of the Clean Air Forum will take place in Madrid and gather decision-makers, stakeholders and experts to reflect on EU policies.
Clean air policy works: air quality has improved across the European Union over the past decades. But this does not mean we have solved the air pollution challenges: air pollution continues to cause respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, and it still is the number one environmental cause of premature deaths in Europe.
The European Commission is organising the third EU Clean Air Forum, in close collaboration with the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of the Kingdom of Spain.
The exact format of the third EU Clean Air Forum will be decided at a later date in view of the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions applicable in the EU and the host country.
The Forum will bring together decision-makers, stakeholders and experts in a one and a half-day conference to reflect on the development and implementation of effective European, national and local air policies, projects and programmes – and to inform about the ongoing revision of EU rules.
The third EU Clean Air Forum will focus on five themes:
The first EU Clean Air Forum took place in Paris in 2017 and the second EU Clean Air Forum in Bratislava in 2019.
