NEWLIGHT awarded as one of the best EU projects in Croatia!

North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency‘s NEWLIGHT project was designated as the best European project in the category “Contribution to the local and regional community” by the daily Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List, the Croatian Union of Counties and on with Jutarnji list, the Croatian Union of Counties and the Office of the European Parliament in Croatia.

NEWLIGHT was created in 2017 by the North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency (REGEA) for financing important innovative projects for public lighting in the counties of Krapina-Zagorje and Zagreb.

NEWLIGHT invested around HRK 100 million (approximately 13,2 million euros) in more than 57 Croatian municipalities. The funded projects generated energy savings of around 20 GWh and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 5,200 tons per year.

As part of this project, REGEA created its own energy audit method.

NEWLIGHT is the first Croatian project that is co-financed by the ELENA program, a joint technical assistance program of the European Commission and the European Investment Bank, intended for the preparation of major infrastructure projects in European regions and cities in the field of clean energy, transport and buildings.
