EREN – Ente Regional de la Energía de Castilla y León, together with the computer services of the autonomous administration, has developed a platform called OPTE. Through this platform, the management and optimization of the contracts of electricity and gas of the public buildings of the community is carried out; currently the platform manages 300 electric contracts and 400 natural gas contracts, which means an expenditure of 60 million euros per year. The objective is to implement savings in public administration by detecting consumption through computerized records as well as the adequacy of contracts with the marketers to adjust them to the needs of each centre. In addition, the centralized purchase of energy is supported, to take advantage of the economies of scale and to enable the platform to establish indicators by comparing the different consumption of each centre.
