The ENERGIZE+ project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of cooperative energy models in industrial areas across Europe to align with the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2050 Scenario. Despite the industrial sector’s significant CO2 emissions, the project seeks to foster energy collaboration in selected industrial zones in Manresa (Catalonia), Valesia Region (Italy), Zlín Region (Czech Republic), and Upper Austria. ENERGIZE+ focuses on significant carbon reduction through pilots and key performance indicators related to company participation, training, energy savings, renewable energy generation, GHG emissions reduction, job creation, and policy impact. The project, backed by over 20 industry players and associations, aims to inspire global sustainable industrial energy practices. A multidisciplinary team of researchers, agencies, and energy sector experts designed ENERGIZE+ to create Industrial Renewable Energy Communities. The project will also provide digitized training and capacity-building tools via a community-based Digital Hub, benefiting professionals through an acceleration program tested in the four pilot zones.
