The Covenant of Mayors – Europe, FEDARENE and AREC Île-de-France are organising a joint webinar on energy sufficiency – an unknown yet essential concept of the energy transition.
Fortunately for you, the recordings and slides are available in our webinars section.
Although still largely unknown at the European level, the concept of energy sufficiency can help local communities reach their climate and energy objectives. Energy sufficiency is first and foremost a question of consumption and behaviour: “It’s about having enough but not using too much. It’s about doing things differently; about living well, within the limits”(energysufficiency.org). In other words, it is about prioritising essential needs in both individual and collective energy usage. In this sense, energy sufficiency goes beyond energy efficiency.
The Covenant of Mayors – Europe, FEDARENE and the energy department of the Institut Paris Region (AREC IDF) are joining forces for an exclusive webinar on this topic. Join us on the 15th of December at 10:00 CET to learn how energy sufficiency can be implemented in several sectors of our society, from mobility to digital infrastructure and social innovation.
Energy efficiency is no longer enough to counteract the increasing energy demand. We shall drastically reduce our energy use if we want to ensure a fair and equal access to energy to all and meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. Our webinar might give you the keys to do so, so take a look at the programme and register now!
The Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy – Europe is a movement of Mayors and regional leaders stepping up their climate ambitions and committing to delivering action at the pace that science dictates, in a joint effort to keep global temperature rise below 1.5℃. Since its launch in 2008, the initiative has mobilised over 10.000 local authorities in Europe, covering roughly one third of the EU population.
