Inclusive Renovation: Reaching vulnerable groups and tackling energy poverty

Date December 10, 2025
Time 10:00 - 11:30 Brussels time

About the Event

The Renovation Dialogue Webinar Series brings together leading EU-funded projects from the Network of Building Renovation Projects to share insights, best practices, and innovative solutions for accelerating the European Renovation Wave. Join us!

This session explores how renovation initiatives can address energy poverty and ensure inclusivity for vulnerable groups. Speakers from Multicare, FORTESIE, Citizen-led renovation Initiative, and SUPERSHINE, all part of the the Network of Building Renovation Projects, will share practical approaches and lessons learned from their work across Europe. The discussion will highlight strategies for engaging hard-to-reach communities and creating equitable renovation pathways that leave no one behind.

It will explore how the Citizen-led renovation initiative places vulnerable households at the centre of the renovation wave by combining trust-building, tailored communication, and accessible technical and financial support. Drawing on tools such as the energy-persona workshops, motivation videos, and the How-to citizen-led renovation guidance, it demonstrates how CLR pilots reached underserved groups, addressed awareness and trust barriers, and created renovation pathways that are both socially inclusive and financially feasible. Practical lessons from Belgium, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Spain will illustrate how targeted local engagement can reduce energy poverty while strengthening community resilience.

About CLR

Citizen-led renovation is an EU-funded support service to empower communities and to put citizens in the driver’s seat for energy renovations. The initiative aims to assist energy communities to deliver citizen-led energy renovations and renewable energy installations, whether you have already one-stop shops for project developers in place or not. Depending on your needs, CLR will give you the opportunity to access tailored support and co-implement citizen-led renovation projects in your community. The support service will help your community to overcome financial, legal, technical and informational barriers to lead the transition toward energy-efficient, climate-resilient buildings across Europe.
