Covenant Supporters are defined as not-for-profit organisations (local and regional energy agencies, associations of local authorities and organisations of the civil society) with the capacity to promote the Covenant of Mayors – Europe and to mobilise and support their members and/or local governments to reach the Covenant of Mayors – Europe’ objectives.
They take action on their territories and areas of expertise (e.g. energy, environment, water, air), and at different levels of governance (e.g. European, national, regional or local) to promote the Covenant of Mayors – Europe initiative and support their signatories. With expert knowledge of the regulatory, legislative and financial framework under which they operate – be it at the local, regional, national or European level – Covenant Supporters are ideally placed to provide tailored advice to signatories and identify synergies with existing initiatives.
Who is eligible
Local and regional thematic agencies (energy/environment), Associations of Local and Regional Authorities, European federations, NGOs and organisations of the civil society can join as Covenant Supporters. Find out more here.
N.B. Most Agencies and their networks could be eligible and will be encouraged to sign the commitment pledge and to become active supporters of the Covenant of Mayors – Europe initiative, with the exception of those for-profit agencies, with a project-by-project mandate and mostly privately financed. However, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis, and eligibility can be checked through the helpdesk.
