The new Policy Support Facility

Local and regional communities need to increase their resilience to the unavoidable impacts of climate change.

To help them in this endeavour, the Covenant of Mayors – Europe has launched the new Policy Support Facility.

The new Policy Support Facility

To help local authorities move from adaptation planning to action, the Covenant of Mayors – Europe will pilot a Policy Support Facility (PSF) to assist local and regional authorities member of the Covenant. This PSF will take the form of an intensive technical assistance programme. To reach the largest number of beneficiaries, the Facility will include both EU-wide & country-specific components.

Participating signatory cities will have the opportunity to:

  (1) learn about adaptation planning through monitoring from experts,

  (2) exchange with peers through national focused workshops,

  (3) implement adaptation solutions with the tailored support of experts across three week-long sessions, and

  (4) share lessons learned with the CoMmunity.

Municipalities and regions are invited to help in shaping this Policy Support Facility.

Who can participate?

The programme is open to local, metropolitan or regional authorities from the 12 targeted Member States at any stage of their adaptation journey. The 12 targeted countries are:

  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Czech Republic
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Italy
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain

Hear more about the Facility through this Covenant Ceremony session as well as this EWRC session, organised in October 2021.
