Plovdiv Energy Agency

The Energy Agency of Plovdiv (EAP) is devoted to promoting the efficient and sustainable use of energy and expanding the use of renewable energy. The energy agency was founded in 2000 under the Save II programme of the European Commission.  

Key priorities for the organisation include: energy efficiency in buildings, energy efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in SMEs, the development of sustainable energy communities and SECAPs within the EU Covenant of Mayors initiative, and energy/environmental education. 

Activities 

EAP carries out a number of services and activities which are utilised by governmental entities, business communities and consumers: 

• Carrying out feasibility studies and energy analyses; 

• Identifying, developing, and managing energy projects; 

• Providing expertise on deep energy, economic, and financial analysis, policy advice; 

• Carrying out services such as project management, writing and promotion, and consultancy for improving air quality and local energy systems; 

• Supporting applications for RES, including biomass to energy and bioeconomy and assistance for energy saving in public and residential buildings. 

Projects 

EAP has been involved in supporting projects in the following ways and areas:  

• Running publicly funded projects at the EU level. 

• Developing and managing more than 60 RES and EE projects in partnership with national and international partner organisations. 

• Coordinating and leading energy actions related to developing sustainable energy communities and concepts for positive energy blocks, piloting smart energy solutions (including BEMS, RES and battery storage, e-charging, etc.)  

• Leading “energy neighbourhood” campaigning among the citizens to raise their knowledge on the sustainable energy alternatives.  

• Conducting technical feasibility studies for introducing advanced energy technologies in support of energy actions for establishing positive energy blocks/districts. 

Network  

In addition to being a long-standing member of FEDARENE, EAP is also involved in other associations. As a founder of the Association of Bulgarian Energy Agencies (ABEA), EAP plays a role in uniting the experiences of energy agencies and energy centres in Bulgaria.  

Together with ABEA, more than 30 National Conferences were organised on sustainable energy topics. A strong partnership with the Bulgarian Energy Forum is another asset that characterises EAP’s expertise in organising energy-related national events.
